How the tools work

Most tools fetch the URLs you submit live from our server, then parse and analyze the response in your browser. For performance tools we use the official Google PageSpeed Insights API so the Core Web Vitals you see match what Google Search Console reports. For schema and structured data checking, we parse JSON-LD and Microdata against schema.org definitions. For bulk audits we queue requests with respect for the target server, so you will not accidentally hammer a site you are analyzing.

The source of truth for rules and thresholds is public documentation from Google Search Central, the WHATWG and W3C, and schema.org. We link to these sources directly inside tools where relevant so you can verify the rule yourself. If guidance changes — for example when INP replaced FID as a Core Web Vital — we update the tool within days.

Our principles

We ship to three rules. First, every tool must do one thing well rather than ten things badly. If a tool is trying to be a swiss army knife, we break it into separate, focused tools. Second, every tool must be honest about its limits — a browser-based crawler has different performance characteristics than a desktop crawler, and we tell you when that matters. Third, every tool must produce output you can hand to a client, which is why almost every tool supports CSV export and every result is structured to be copy-paste ready into a report.
